This pendant was meticulously drilled and cut by hand from an actual 50 cent coin from Tuvalu. It features an octopus. The coin was attached to a reclaimed copper backing that has been patinated to a deep black.
This coin has become very scarce and therefore hard and expensive to find.
The octopus is one of the most fascinating creatures in the world. There are around 300 known species of octopus, all eight-limbed molluscs of the the order octopoda. The octopus is a very intelligent animal, exhibiting success in maze and problems-solving experiments and in some cases tool use. They exhibit a wide range of interesting behavior including using water jet propulsion to swim, and camouflage to hide and hunt.
It comes on a 20” sterling silver wheat chain.
